The Vaulted Barn
You might be surprised to find a piece of history at Crockwell Farm. Our stone Vaulted Barn dates back to the 1700s and is one of the original structures from when Crockwell was still a working farm. Lovingly and patiently restored by the Harpers in the early 2000s, it has hosted dozens of small weddings and parties. With its iconic wooden beams and high ceiling, the Vaulted Barn can provide a solemn yet romantic setting for your wedding ceremony. It is also large enough to accommodate up to 86 people, making it an excellent venue for small to medium-sized weddings.
Preparing the Vaulted Barn for the ceremony is a breeze. It requires little to no decoration, aside from a few church candles and some flowers, which we can arrange for you prior to the ceremony.
The Saddle Room Bar
The Saddle Room Bar is one of Crockwell Farm’s absolute gems. Renovated and refurbished in 2020, it connects the stone Vaulted Barn and the Starlit Marquee, and leads guests into the Breakfast Room. The bar features lovely oak timbers and a charming fireplace, providing a classy yet cosy atmosphere for your guests. Moreover, it has full underfloor heating so everyone will be kept warm and toasty, even during the winter months.
Good spirits are the perfect companion when ushering in new beginnings, and at Crockwell we have lots of options to choose from. The Saddle Room Bar stocks a wide array of premium beers, ales, wines, spirits and gins. It opens one hour before and after the ceremony and closing time is at 12:30am.
The Starlit Marquee
Are you and your partner nature lovers? If so, you will adore our Starlit Marquee, one of the most enchantingly perfect country house wedding venues in the UK. It features high ceilings and huge, expansive windows that offer a panoramic view of the verdant and idyllic Northamptonshire countryside. It also has a fairy-light canopy and large hanging hoops with foliage, adding a unique charm to the setting.
Our renovation project in the spring of 2020 has further elevated the Starlit Marquee’s look and ambience. Similar to the Saddle Room Bar, the venue now features full underfloor heating, making it an ideal indoor location regardless of the season or weather. Neutral yet classic flooring has also been installed throughout.
Although the Starlit Marquee looks beautiful in itself, you are of course free to decorate it to your heart’s content. Feel free to unleash your creativity to engender an atmosphere that will match your vision. You can also rely on our team to offer you expert guidance on every aspect of your wedding and we can also put you in touch with some fantastic suppliers.
If you do opt for the Starlit Marquee, you have the choice of using either the rustic long tables or the round tables with white linen. And, because you can always count on our full support, there will be no need to worry about the minor details. We can provide you with all the crockery, glassware and cutlery you need for your reception. We will also supply the chairs and other decorative materials, and ensure that the space is both festive and inviting.
Are you expecting a large number of people to come and celebrate your special day with you? If so, there’s no need to worry. The Starlit Marquee is so spacious that it is the ideal venue for larger weddings. It can accommodate up to 200 guests and there will still be enough room for everyone to party the day and night away.
The Gardens
If you would prefer to experience nature in all of its splendour, you can take your wedding celebrations outside. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, Crockwell Farm is the perfect setting for an outdoor event.
Located deep in the heart of a privately owned 400-acre farm, Crockwell is nestled within Northamptonshire’s lush rolling hills, providing you with the utmost privacy and, best of all, lots of amazing photo opportunities. The farm also has beautiful gardens, a source of pride and joy for us all here at Crockwell. As a nature lover herself, Hermione, Crockwell Farm’s owner, lovingly maintains and plans the gardens every year to ensure they are always photo-ready regardless of the season. This is one of the primary reasons why many of our clients have chosen the gardens for their wedding ceremony. The innate beauty will make any occasion even more momentous.
If you are planning to tie the knot during the summer months, the gardens can also serve as a stunning location for your reception. Weather permitting, your friends and family can enjoy their reception drinks and canapés under the garden’s walnut tree. It is also the ideal spot to host games, live musical performances and other outdoor activities.
The Orchard Pavilion
Right next to Crockwell’s well-manicured gardens is the idyllic and charming Orchard Pavilion, a naturally beautiful and intimate setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Mature lime trees, damson and cherry trees, mountain ashes, and field maples are dotted around the area to provide shade and exquisite aromas. At the end of the tree-lined aisle is the farm’s permanent gazebo, a truly magical location to exchange your vows.
You will be delighted to know that the Orchard Pavilion complies with all the legal requirements of a civil ceremony. It also has a sound system for music and the wedding speeches. And, because of its proximity to the gardens, it is the ideal venue for a quaint and intimate outdoor wedding. Once the ceremony is over, your guests can proceed to the gardens to enjoy the festivities.
As we all know, the English weather can be quite unpredictable. Therefore, a contingency plan is crucial when organising an outdoor or garden wedding. At Crockwell, our staff are always prepared for any eventualities. In the event of a sudden downpour, we can quickly set up the Vaulted Barn or the Starlit Marquee for the ceremony. Guest Accommodation
If you want to spend some quality time with your loved ones before the wedding, you will be pleased to know that Crockwell offers safe and cosy accommodation for your core wedding party. The farmhouse and adjoining cottages feature nine spacious bedrooms ready to house your closest friends and family before and after the wedding. As a result, it will be easy for you and your partner to enjoy some relaxing time together with your nearest and dearest.
If you have lots of guests coming to the wedding, do not fret. We will be only too happy to help them find a place to stay. We have an extensive list of highly recommended local B&Bs and hotels that can be emailed to your guests so they can book their accommodation in advance.
The Breakfast Room
Located right next to the bar, the Breakfast Room is one of the newest additions at Crockwell Farm. Featuring a lovely contemporary design, this is where you can have the first meal of the day in style.
Why not gather your friends and family together so you can all enjoy our trademark Crockwell breakfast? You can choose from a wide range of fresh fruit, homemade granola, yoghurts and toast. But it doesn’t end there … We also offer a cooked breakfast of free-range sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes and organic mushrooms.
If you would prefer something lighter, such as bagels with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, our chefs are always ready to prepare a meal that will perfectly suit your tastes. We also offer a “hangover breakfast” on the morning after the wedding, usually at around 9:30am.
At Crockwell, everything is sourced locally so our breakfasts are always fresh, healthy, organic and exquisitely delicious.
Bridal Prep Room
Getting ready for one of the biggest days of your life requires meticulous planning. It can be quite stressful and nerve-racking too. Fortunately, Crockwell’s Bridal Prep Room has everything you need to make preparing for your wedding a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The room features a bench, comfortable chairs, mirrors and a huge roof light and windows that let lots of natural light in. Tall chairs are also available for your make-up artist to ensure they can be comfortable while they work their magic on you.
The Prep Room is also equipped with a kitchenette so tea and coffee are always available to keep you and your bridal party in high spirits. We will also provide a wide selection of snacks to keep those hunger pangs at bay.
