With Summer fast approaching, outdoor weddings, colourful florals and golden hour shots are almost upon us. Hermione has been tirelessly working through the winter and spring to make sure the famous Crockwell Gardens are as beautiful as ever. We are really starting to get into the swing of our busiest time of year, so we thought it would be a good time to share some trending ideas for 2023/24 with you all.

Make it personal.

Opportunities to add personal touches throughout the day are endless and it’s a great way for guests to get to know the couple and their story so far. Table names don’t have to just be numbers; why not have your favourite holidays, rugby teams or even films? Increasingly, we are seeing couples forgo the traditional champagne reception in favour of a “Couples Cocktail”. A fun addition to any wedding breakfast is “Fun facts” about the couple on each table, perhaps where you first met, your proposal story or even a little embarrassing funny story to share. We are keen to make your day as personal and special as we can and our friendly team are always open to chat through ideas to make the day yours.

Outdoor ceremonies

At Crockwell we have a beautiful oak framed pavilion at the bottom of the orchard, accessed via a windy walkway to the aisle, framed on either side by mature ash, maple and lime trees. The dappled sunlight coming through the trees over the ceremony area creates magical photos. The pavilion itself is the perfect backdrop for either simple florals on the ceremony table or a statement flower arch. After your outdoor ceremony, our beautiful gardens lend themselves to a special drink’s reception, with the lovingly tended borders offering interest and atmosphere at any time of year. Consider live music whilst enjoying drinks and canapes or some fun garden games to add something different. We are here to make it all happen for you.

Sustainability

We’re grateful that couples are choosing to be as environmentally conscious as they can and as a venue, sustainability is at the heart of our ethos. So far we are achieving some of our sustainability goals through solar power, bio mass fuel, offering only exclusive three day use and working as far as possible with local suppliers who share our aims.  This year, the stewardship of the farm land has expanded; meaning that we are now growing over 400 acres of wild flowers, providing the perfect habitat for our native insects, birds and small mammals. As we look to the future, expect to see sustainability taking centre stage in all that we do. We are thrilled to see more and more couples making this their priority when choosing a venue. However, sustainability doesn’t have to stop at your venue. There are many ways you can have the most eco friendly wedding you can. Consider speaking to your florist about in season, British florals. Wildflower seeds as your wedding favours ensure your guests will have a reminder of your day for much longer!

Break Tradition

2023/24 is time to change it up and make the day as authentic to you both as possible. There are so many ways to do something different and give your guests something to remember. Champagne towers instead of cake cuttings are becoming more popular this year, of course, that doesn’t mean to say you can’t have cake as well! Audio or polaroid guest books are very popular recently and we can see why! It’s such a fun way for your guests to share their sentiments with you and really something to look forward to listening/looking through the next day and years to come. Entrance music to make your guests get up and dance is such a great way to start your first meal as a married couple, whether you have a live band during your breakfast or an upbeat playlist, your guests will certainly get into the party spirit!

We really can’t wait for the Summer to arrive and to see happy couples creating memories of their perfect day. If you haven’t yet booked your wedding and wanted to come an visit then please get in touch.
