Amazingly, it is December already and time to take a breather and look back at what has been the busiest year in Crockwell’s history. This year not only marked our 20th year, but we also were lucky enough to host the most weddings to date, and what a beautiful year of weddings it has been.

Along with all those weddings we have continued to make improvements to the venue, most notably to the dancefloor. We replaced the drapes in this space with a starlit ivory cloth, foliage and festoon lighting.  It has truly created a magical place to dance the night away for our couples.

As always, Hermione has worked tirelessly to keep our beautiful gardens perfect all year round. She really is a master at work. Whether it is the frost twinkling in the sun in winter, the pops of colour in blooming spring or the beautiful deep colours of Autumn, the weddings this year have had the most gorgeous backdrop.

With so many weddings as we continued to play catch up after the pandemic, our team have been working incredibly hard to make sure each and every couple has the best day of their lives. Our team really are the beating heart at Crockwell and we thank every one of them for all their hard work this year. We would also like to take this moment to congratulate our lovely Rosie who headed off on Maternity leave back in September. Her little family has grown by one healthy little girl.

After a full 20 years hosting weddings, we thought it was about time that our branding matched our contemporary style while reflecting our personal approach. Back in spring of this year, we did exactly that. Our new logo is fresh and hand crafted and it’s great to be back to a beautiful green reflecting our rural surroundings. Hopefully any of our past couples would recognise the Crockwell walnut tree now featured in our logo.

To mark our 20th year we held a party and celebrated with some regular suppliers, past couples and our incredible team. We still can’t believe quite how much we have grown and changed in that time. Seeing couple after couple moving into the next steps of their journey is a privilege. Receiving so many compliments about the venue and our amazing team will never get old and catching up with many of those who have made it all happen over the years made our hearts full. We look forward to the next 20.

On the subject of moving forward, let’s talk about some exciting things are going to be happening at Crockwell in the next year. Firstly, the farmland is now in full Stewardship which means couples will be seeing a lot more wildflowers and green pastures. This is the latest step in our long term commitment to sustainability. The stewardship scheme looks to restore and preserve natural habitats for our native flora and fauna. Already we have seen an abundance of small insects including butterflies which in turn attract a great variety of bird and mammal life and it will be fascinating to see how this increases as more swathes of land are committed to growing wild grasses and flowers in place of farmed crops.

The New Year will also see a refresh for the Farmhouse bathrooms. The bedrooms in the Farmhouse are super spacious and great for families. They have been hosting guests for as long as we have been doing weddings and are deserving of a re-fit so we can’t wait to get stuck into this project.

Along with new bathrooms we will be installing our very own al fresco Pizza oven in the Gardens for those balmy summer evenings. The team at Crockwell as well as Ross & Ross (our caterers) are very excited to get this underway, keep your eyes peeled for some gorgeous stone baked Pizzas! For those typically English damper evenings, Ross & Ross will be baking pizzas under the cover of the veranda, maintaining the theatre and interaction that our guests love while keeping everyone dry and warm.

It’s been an amazing year. We can’t thank our couples enough for making this all possible and choosing Crockwell. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings, and here’s to the next 20!
