About the Wedding
It has been a whole eighteen months since we shared our last “Featured Wedding” with you and what a roller-coaster ride it has been. When we closed at the end of 2019, for a planned five month refurbishment, we had no idea that a global pandemic would follow, extending that closure period far longer than we would have hoped. However, here we are in summer 2021, with the refurbishment and further improvements to the venue complete thanks to extra time, and with a gorgeous micro wedding to share.
Sophie & Josh were one of our many summer 2020 couples who were forced to delay their main celebration. The pair did hold an intimate ceremony for their closest family in June last year, wanting to be legally married as soon as possible. The course of the pandemic did not run smoothly and despite postponing by a whole year, for their new date in June 2021 the 30 person limit remained in place. However, S & J did not let this deter them and chose to hold the most wonderful micro wedding, one of our first and the joy for both them and for us in doing so was palpable.
Bride Sophie says:
“We were looking for a venue close to home where we could hold our full day with accommodation. We chose Crockwell as we fell in love instantly. We always wanted a barn wedding and having the venue exclusively took so much pressure off the preparations. All of our guests on the day said they felt like they were on a mini holiday. It was such a relaxed few days, we didn’t need to worry about anything as the staff were on hand taking care of last minute preparations and coordinating us, including fitting my veil, changing our music when we forgot to and making sure we weren’t late for the wedding breakfast.
We originally had a rustic theme planned, but we changed everything last minute due to having a smaller wedding. We decided to go for a more intimate ‘banquet style, bold and quirky’. We set our design by the flowers mainly, incorporating hydrangeas, peonies and eucalyptus, then told my mum (our florist) to make it ‘buff’ and ‘wacky’, the rest I left to her design.
We wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was simply the most perfect day, despite having a micro wedding. The venue is so intimate and warming I felt like one of those brides who actually saw their husband all day! We couldn’t have imagined a day so perfect and we have Crockwell to thank for that.
We would highly recommend paying for a videographer, re-watching your wedding ceremony is overwhelming and something you can re-watch over and over and never forget. We wouldn’t give any further tips than to have your wedding at Crockwell Farm; you certainly won’t regret a thing!”
