After a busy and wet winter we are finally looking forward to our first wedding of 2016 next weekend! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to over the winter:

New Entrance

This winter has seen some fairly major building work to the venue entrance. The floor of the main archway next to the hall has been levelled and inside decorated; and we have added large oak framed windows and doors from SDRB Joinery to lead into this new reception area.

This space is linked to the mews passageway, housing the accessible bedroom, Maybury and the Ladies and Gents loos. The whole area is now sealed and heated so will be a welcome additional reception space on cold and wet days. The entrance features a large iron chandelier by Nigel Tyas Ironwork which complements the stonework and wooden beams.

Outside, there are wide wheelchair-friendly ramps leading to the entrance as well as lots of patio space which will be great for drinks and photos after the wedding ceremony. The maintenance team have been meticulously replacing light bulbs in the walnut tree!

Rosie – our newest team member!

 Rosie our new wedding planner.

Rosie Haigh has joined the Crockwell team this Spring. Having worked as an electronics technician in the British Army for eleven years, including tours to Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands, Rosie wanted to return to her home county for the next stage in her career. She will be working in the office alongside Hermione, Harriet and Amy (who is working part-time while on maternity leave). Rosie will be conducting planning meetings as well as working front of house for the Chopping Block from time to time. Laura, who is in her twelth year with us has enjoyed a break in her native South Africa and will continue to run the majority of wedding days in 2016.

The Chopping Block – a blossoming relationship

The Chopping Block will continue to be the sole caterer for weddings at Crockwell this year and beyond. Our 2015 couples were as impressed as ever with their interesting menus, excellent communication and quality of food. The catering remains an integral part of Crockwell weddings and we are happy that with the Chopping Block our clients are in safe hands. If you would like to discuss menus please contact Sarah:
