A very Happy New Year to all our couples, suppliers and friends!
We thought we’d take this opportunity to look back on a busy 2018 in pictures.
January saw a makeover for our honeymoon cottage, Dryden. With a little help from Fiona Warren Bespoke, the bridal suite is now fit for a princess complete with a huge copper bath to while away the morning after and reflect on your day together.
In February we held our first Open Evening of the year. These have become popular events and are a great opportunity for couples to bring family to view the venue and see bedrooms. We will be holding a number of Open Evenings in 2019 starting with our first on 18th February.
March brought more snow with the Beast from the East and a new baby, Patrick for Amy & Joe.
Congratulations also to Rosie who runs the office and celebrated her engagement to Marcus in April! 2018 has seen our team grow and evolve. Jenn has joined us as a general assistant and is looking forward to working with couples closely in the New Year. We also welcomed Fiona as a part-time wedding coordinator. Fiona has flourished in the role and gained high praise from those she has worked with this year. Laura, our longest standing team member married fiancé Shane on a beach in Australia in December! Laura will continue to run weddings throughout 2019 before moving to Australia in September.
In July we held an Open Afternoon with tours of the garden and Pimm’s & lemonade in the sunshine. This again was well supported and we plan to repeat the day in 2019.
The glorious summer brought long days of never-ending sunshine. It was hot, but it was perfect for ceremonies in the Orchard Pavilion where guests enjoyed shade afforded by the tress as couples said their vows al fresco.
In autumn we announced that from 2020, the Chopping Block will no longer be our sole caterers. It signals the end of a very happy era for Crockwell and the Chopping Block but we are thankful for all their work here and excited for the future with newly appointed caterers, Ross & Ross Events.
Ross & Ross impressed us at Tastings with their utterly delicious and beautifully presented food. Head chef Ross Whitmill’s enthusiasm is infectious and he’s backed up by a fantastic team including Victoria and Becca who will work closely with our couples to develop menus personal to the couple and their day.
We closed the year with some brilliant winter weddings, some complete with reindeer! We are looking forward to posting a few Features, watch this space for more photos.
We now have no weddings until February 2019 while we carry out maintenance and projects. We are very much Open for show rounds and look forward to welcoming those who got engaged over the Christmas period. Don’t forget our Open Evening on 18th February.
